The book has a setting of a rural type of town far away from other social inclusions. There is no cell service and no internet in this town making it hard for Lex to communicate with the outside world. The setting helps her forget and become her own person without other people influencing that change at all. Science says you are an average of the 5 people you talk to or listen to the most, so Lex only being in a town with people that also only are in that town will help her become a truer person. If I was that character I don't think I would mind that much honestly. I don't really talk to people as it is right now and I think being able to start over as my best person would be an amazing thing and I would enjoy that greatly.

  2. The book is about a girl named Lex and doesn't understand her actions and feelings about why she is so "evil". Society doesn't understand her either and she is known for being "evil". Her parents didn't know what to do either so they sent her to a farm with her Uncle Mort. The town is called Croak and when she arrived there she didn't trust her Uncle Mort. Lex slowly started to change her personality and soon realize why she is so "evil". In conclusion, the setting taught her to be more independent and be her own person.

croak starts out in lex's high school a where she is getting yelled at by her principle because she get in trouble a lot so then when she got in trouble again her parents sent her to her uncles farm and he lives in a small town with a population of eighty people which felt weird to lex because she came from the city so it was hard for her to adapt but then comes to realize that the small town is her uncles job and is a portal between space time continuum and her uncles job is being a grim reaper and to take peoples life.

The setting is in a city and in a modern time. People tend to associate cities with a higher crime/violence rate, the main character has been showing violent tendencies and has gotten in trouble a few times prior to the start of the book. Her parents decide fresh air on a farm might help . Most people associate farms with lots of work but also tranquility as her parents likely thought, to help with her sudden outbursts.

Croak is about a 16 year old girl named Lex who used to be a squeaky clean straight A student who became a Delinquent. Her parents send here to stay with uncle Mort to work on a farmer but little did she know is that uncle Mort isn't a farmer but a grim reaper, and uncle Mort is going to teach Lex the family business of collecting souls. she meets her partner Driggs who is a cullier while Lex is a killer like uncle Mort.

This book is about a girl named Lex. She has always been a great kid but all of a sudden she changed and she doesn't know why she has become such a bad kid. he parents and sister don't know how to help her. Out of nowhere her Uncle Mort asked Lex's parents if she could spend the summer with him in his rural town called Croak. Croak has no cell service or Starbucks so of course Lex is going to have a harder time adjusting to this change, but she knows it is only for the summer.

Lex is a 16 year old girl who used to be getting straight A´s but it started to change when bullies started making fun of her when that made her very domestic and violent to the bullies now she is starting to fail high school and her parents had to deal with this for 2 years so they decided to accept Uncle Mort´s offer for Lex to stay his place for the summer to help her change her ways and work on a farm but she didn´t expect that Uncle Mort to notice that she was born with grim reaper powers which is what her job is as a grim reaper. Lex has been very thearotic about whether being a grim reaper is good or bad in these conditions.

    1. I think the description of this is accurate and a great way to think about it, though I don't personally remember reading about her being bullied to start acting violent, and I thought it was just arbitrary.

In the book a character wants to kill all of the evil people in the world, but instead of normally killing she wants to damn them to suffer forever, which I disagree with. I found that the main character, while wanting this the entire time agreed with how I feel that it is wrong. Another thing is the way she gets the main character to try and join her is by killing her twin sister, which is an actual horrible thing to do and I would never stand by at all.

    1. I agree with that lest statement, but If someone commits a terrible crime they should be damned by to suffer forever or just keep reliving the moments they made those bad crimes kinda like a living "Hell"

I disagree with Driggs. He has been floating the idea that since lexighton has been at croak A murder is now killing people because she came to croak. I disagree with Driggs because no matter what happens a murderer could have started killing people at anytime it's just strange it happen when she join. But I believe that Driggs is wrong and that it's just a conicendence that it happen when she came to croak.

In the book Croak, Lex is being trained to remove the trapped souls in the dead bodies when in one of these sessions she sees a brutally beaten eight year girl and a man running away from the crime scene. Lex wanted to go after the man but Zara, training instructor with her, says she cant because she will break the rules. I say you should go after him because not only he committed murder to a minor, but you can get away with it since the crime scene was in the middle of the woods so nobody would really think of what happened when the do find the bodies.

in the book i disagree with driggs decision of telling lex that she should not tell people about the shock she gets from Killing instead of a little pinch because there could be serious reasons why its happening or its just lex being a different type of grim because Mort is surprised at how fast she kills so is driggs and she is going so fast that driggs can barely keep up and he has been a grim for 4 years.

Lex finally gets to go "killing" with her training partner for the the day Zara. Zare is a "culler." a "Culler" is a grim that collects the souls of the people that the "killers" release when they touch them (For each "killer' there is a "Culler" so no matter what there is always an equal number for each one). The next day Lex meets he actual partner Driggs, They pretty much become close "friends." They go to do their work and Lex asks her uncle Mort if every "Killer gets the same shock in their body when they "Kill." Her uncle said," It could be a slew pf future potential.

Lets get one thing out of the way. What if Mort really wasn't a grim reaper. Why would you send your 16 year old daughter to your brothers place ever though you haven't talked in years. For all you know, Uncle Mort could've been a pedophile. Seriously, in the beginning we are told Lex has other guardians that could take her over the summer but her parents choose the guy they haven't spoken to in years and works on a "farm"

what is happening in the book right now is driggs just showed lex a tour of the bank the afterlife the rooom full of black widow spiders and the annoying chick that runs the after life also where you deposit the vessels to go to the after life. then they went out for burgers and lex was introduced to everyone and then they started taking about the man that driggs couldn't figure out how he died and they are starting to build the suspicion that another grim actually killed the person and not Killed them.

    1. I agree with this and maybe some other Girm did kill the dude because how else could he have died Driggs knew that nothing "human" could do that to some one.

  17. In chapter 9 we get to see lex's reaction towards the after life. When she complains that its not fair the bad guys not being punished after death Driggs says that life isn't fair so why should death be any different, I say i kinda see the point in his reasoning, if life isn't really fair than why would death be any different. We talk about heaven and hell as if its our second life waiting to happen.

    1. Lex likes to get revenge on those who hurt her feeling or her friends feelings so whenever she sees someone get killed when the bad guy is standing right in front of the dead body she goes crazy and wants to punch him but can't since she is a grim reaper so I would like to predict that the second life of her normal self and smart student will waiting for her in a while is true

Lex probably feels confused and probably thinks that everything she has to do is overwhelming because she has 10 hour shifts has to get up at 6 every morning has to check into the bank and then while Killing people she has to deal with the shock she gets then after her shift she and her partner have to deposit the vessels and within that time have a break to eat and if she decides to she is going to grim for the rest of her life.

It's about a teenage grim reaper named Lex. She used to be a good kid then all of sudden she became a bad person and she doesn't know why. Her behavior is always anger and rude and I think deep inside she can be more than that because in the book she slowly started to change and be more of herself. Lex's actions always involve violence and brutal force, but her sister knows deep inside her she is a good person. Lex's character started changing when she arrived at her uncle's town and she found that her uncle is a reaper and he is going to teach Lex family business, but she is not sure if she wants to be a reaper or not. Lex doesn't know why she always acts so "evil", but her personality changes throughout the book and she gets to be more of herself.

When Lex kills someone Zara doesn't show her competitive face she shows her impressed face to Lex all the actions that Lex has done makes you think Zara is jealous but lets be real here is she really jealous and is wanting to do better than what Lex does no she does nothing because she can't complete with Lex to kill people that fast in one blink of an eye. Zara is acting like a person who is impressed because she knows what will happen if she attempts to do better than Lex terriable things will happen to Zara like getting bullied or losing friends. I think this has to be wrong because why is Zara not gonna compete to be the all best grim reaper when Lex is gonna reach that spot so I would suggest to Zara to learn how to kill people faster than Lex and faster than a blink of an eye.

  21. Uncle Mort behavior is diffident compared to the other grim reapers which have wild behavior like Lex how can't control her self when she mad,Driggs who is an ass,Zara who hates new people. wild and weird behavior like at is common in grim reapers but Uncle Mort doesn't seem to have this trans like the others he seems more tamed unlike the other grim reaper who are more short temper.

I think the most important conflict is the moral decision if she should stay or leave Croak. While we know she wants to stay because she feels like herself, her sister and family is there at home ready for her to come back. I think it makes the story a lot more personal to her and it changes, especially at the end of the book how you feel about her decision. I liked the way it was solved because it was emotional and satisfying while still being a fair ending.

    1. This makes sense and also very important because it was all pretty much Lex's choice either to stay and grim or to go home and be with her sister, mom, and dad.

The think most important conflict is when the characters reacting to the afterlife. The afterlife doesn't punish bad people after their death. Driggs got mad because he doesn't understand why death has to be different. I think it's important because the characters are going to have to get used to it and they have to understand this concept. I think this was a bad idea and there should be another way, but the characters can't do anything about it so hopefully they find a solution to this conflict through out the book.

I'm pretty sure that it was Lex that got mad because she didn't understand why people that have done bad things didn't get punished in the afterlife not Driggs. But yea if life wasn't fair then why must death be the same.

I think that the most conflict in the book is when ever Zara showed Lex that she gets the same type of shocks from Culling that Lex gets from Killing why this is important is because Lex was supposed to be the only one who felt that but both Lex and Zaras fingers are getting worn out and red from the Culling.

I believe the biggest conflict in the book is when a person from croak learns how to jump to specific places in the world and start´s killing people that had done bad thing´s. Why I think this is because they are given targets that have died but a reaper took it too far and started killing living people even though they were murder´s, rapist, Etc.

I believe that is a good point that a reaper broke the code by killing live people no matter what they have done. The reapers might've added this rule so nobody that has nothing to do with the reapers might not think they exist.

I believe that the greatest conflict in this book is when Lex finds about what the town of croak really is and if she wants to be with any part of this tradition. If she was to decline this offer, she might've had a memory wipe leaving a gap in her memory, and if she did decide to join this town, shoe would've have to remove souls from a dead persons body and store the soul away like some kind of trophy.

    1. I agree but it also it has other conflicts

      Delete
    2. I agree with this because if she didn't decide to stay in Croak she would've never became a grim and her life would be back to being the way it was before, and that would probably lead to her doing something she would regret or something that would get her in serious trouble

      Delete
    3. I agree with this because Lex had a big conflict between choosing leaving with no brain or staying with her smart self and be a grim reaper. When Lex first arrived at Uncle Mort's house she was digusted by no T.V in his house and no starbuck in his town which made Lex wanna already call and dad and leave but she knew what would happen if she left so she just stayed.

I think that the most important conflict in this book would have to be when Lex first starts "changing" and being very short tempered, because if she had not been like that then she would have never gone to her Uncle Mort's, therefore she wouldn't have become a grim as fast as she did, it would've been a while for her to become a grim if Lex hadn't gone through the exact change. she would not have had to leave school, she would not have met all her new friends like, Driggs, Ayjay, and everyone else. that to me is the most important conflict in "Croak".

    2. I agree with this she does have a rage and angry mind which causes her to want to punch a bully or beat up an innocent kid. And if she would of just kept on being the straight A student and ignore all the haters and bullies she would've gotten through high school easily but she was very sensitive which causes her to say something or fight back

I believe that the most important conflict in this book has to be Lex having anger issues towards people who murder innocent children and wants revenge on them because if she just kept her anger to herself she would be a great grim in all of Croak population-79. When Lex saw her first person getting murdered she released all of her anger and wanted revenge. And when she came to her 2nd victim she released her rage even more to have revenge and they always have to calm her down so Uncle Mort threatened her if Lex keeps releasing her anger then he will clear her mind and turn her back into her old self again.

during the beginning of the book croak the main character Lex is destined to become a reaper of souls but when she first starts learining how to and actually participates in one of the "killing" proccesses she realizes that maybe this job is not cut out for her but should she quit something she already has started or keep going and sooner or later gain a passion for the job. Lex first gets her reaper scyth which is made of obsidion and learns how to basically go through the void to transfer souls to the afterlife.

  30. I think one of the most important conflict that happen in the book was Lex changing from a good well behaved kid with good grades in to a shot tempered kid how had punch everyone in school at lest ones. This is important because without this happening how wound Uncle Mort know that Lex was a Grim. This meas that it wound have taken longer for Uncle Mort to find Lex and bring her to Croak to become a Grim Reaper or her becoming a Grim Reaper wound of never happened because all Grim Reaper have one thing in common and that is that all ware good kids that turned bad all having wild behaviors and are short tempered so Lex nerved changed she wound had never became a Grim Reaper.
